Nirmal Jayaseelan, M.D., F.A.C.S

Dr. Jayaseelan grew up in Lubbock, Texas. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University. After a short career as a systems engineer he went to medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. While at Texas Tech, Dr. Jayaseelan obtained Honors in Surgical Research for a study on shock under Dr. Tom Shires.

Dr. Jay went on to complete his General Surgery Residency at Oregon Health Sciences University. He has been trained by Dr. Don Trunkey (world famous trauma surgeon), Dr. Lee Swanstrom (President of SAGES, a laparoscopic society), and Dr. John Porter (editor of the Yearbook of Vascular Surgery.

Dr. Jay is board certified by the American Board of Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the ASMBS.

Victor Gonzalez, M.D., F.A.C.S

Victor Gonzalez received his Medical Degree from the University Of Iowa College Of Medicine in Iowa City, Iowa.  His post-graduate training included a surgical internship and residency at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in El Paso, Texas. After five years as a general surgeon, he continued his education by completing a one year Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic (Minimally Invasive Surgery) and Bariatric (Obesity or Weight-loss) Surgery.  Dr. Gonzalez is a Board Certified General Surgeon and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery.  He was named Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.  He maintains affiliations and memberships including the American College of Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, and is a member of the ASMBS.

Dr. Gonzalez practice is devoted to the practice of Bariatric Surgery and General Surgery. Dr. Gonzales performs Lap-Band®, Realize Band TM, and Gastric Sleeve, Gastric Bypass, Stomaphx, Rose and Bariatric Surgery Revisions.

Richard Carter, D.O.

Richard Carter is a graduate of University of Nevada in Reno, and received his post-graduate degree from Kirkville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed an internship at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, and his surgical residency was at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Carter has served as Chief of General Surgery at the 130th Station Hospital in Heidelberg, West Germany, and as Department of Surgery Chairman at the Medical Center of Arlington.
Dr. Carter is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery and is a diplomate of the National Board for Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons.

Dr. Carter is also a member of the American Society or Bariatric Surgery and the Texas Association of Bariatric Surgery. Dr, Carter performs the Lap-Band® System Procedure.

Daryl A. Stewart, M.D.

Dr. Stewart is a native of Denton, Texas. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. After completing his surgical residency at Akron General Medical Center in Ohio. Dr. Stewart is a member of the ASMBS.

Dr. Stewart first practiced in Arkansas for ten years before moving home to Texas in order to be closer to his family. His patient care is influenced by strong Christian values and his desire to help patients to lead happier, healthier, and more productive lives.

Dr. Stewart has been active in Bariatric Surgery since 1997 and Bariatrics is now 100% of his practice. Dr. Stewart performs Lap-Band, Gastric Sleeve, Gastric Bypass and Bariatric Surgery Revisions.

Manuel E. Castro, M.D., Ph.D., F.A.C.S., F.A.S.M.B.S.

Dr. Castro was a resident at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac Michigan and completed a fellowship in critical care surgery at University of Minnesota Hospitals and Clinics. He earned a PhD in experimental surgery at the University of Alberta in Alberta, Canada, and served on the faculty of Texas Tech Medical School in Lubbock. He is board certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, and, Diplomate of the American Board of Surgical Critical Care. He is a member of the ASMBS.

Dr. Castro dedicates 100% of his practice to the care of morbidly obese patients. Dr. Castro performs Lap-Band®, Realize Band TM, and Gastric Sleeve, Gastric Bypass, and Bariatric Surgery Revisions.

Frank Veninga, M.D. F.A.C.S.

Dr. Veninga completed medical school at Southwestern Medical School. Dallas Texas. In addition to completing internships at The Medical College of Pennsylvania and St. Paul Medical Center, Dallas, Dr. Veninga fulfilled his residency at St. Paul Medical Center in Dallas and his fellowship at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

Dr. Veninga is board certified by The American College of Surgeons, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the ASMBS. Dr. Veninga performs Lap-Band®, Realize Band TM, and Gastric Sleeve.

Stephen V. Hamn, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Stephen V. Hamn is board certified and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.  He specializes in general, laparoscopic, and bariatric surgery in Plano and Frisco, Texas.  Dr. Hamn’s original training also included non-cardiac thoracic and peripheral vascular surgery.   Dr. Hamn went to Texas A&M undergraduate graduating in three years Magna Cum Laude.  He attended University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio, graduating with honors, and attended University of Missouri for residency in general surgery.

Dr. Hamn is one of a select few surgeons in the United States to perform general surgery, Lap Band, Realize Band, Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy, and the Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass.  He is a member of the American Medical Association, Texas Association for Bariatric Surgery, Texas Medical Association, Obesity Action Coalition, American Society of General Surgeons, and Collin County Medical Society.

Joseph Cribbins, M.D.

Dr. A. Joseph Cribbins, III was born and raised in Connecticut.  He then attended Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and then attended The University of Pittsburgh Medical School, winning the Orazio Dimaura scholorship for Students of Medicine, the Dr. J. Behan Prize for Outstanding Student of Surgery, and was inducted in Alpha Omega Alpha, a prestigious medical society open only to the top academic students who also show promise for leadership in their field and commitment to service to their community.

In 1995 he began his general surgical training at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.  In 2000 his family moved to Texas.  He currently performs Laparoscopic Bands, Realize Bands, Laparoscopic Gastric Bypasses, Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomies and the Duodenal Switch. He continues to maintain a busy general surgical and advanced laparoscopic practice.

Colleen Kennedy, M.D.

Dr. Kennedy graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut and received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. She holds membership in The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). She did her internship and residency in General Surgery at the Medical College of Virginia and served a fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Minimally Invasive Surgery.
